Frances Chvatal Elected as Acting Chair
At the Central Committee meeting on May 14, the Executive Board recommended that Kari Isaacson be granted a leave of absence as Chair of the Walla Walla Democrats to focus on her campaign for the Washington State Senate representing Legislative District 16.
The Precinct Committee Officers unanimously approved this leave of absence, beginning on May 15 and running through November 30. On December 1, Kari will resume the position of Chair of the Walla Walla Democrats until the party’s reorganization meeting on December 10.
On May 23, the Executive Board elected Frances Chvatal, Second Vice Chair, to serve as the party’s Acting Chair. Frances brings a long history of exemplary service to the Walla Walla Democrats to this new position of responsibility. She was a well-qualified and dynamic candidate for the Washington State House of Representatives in 2020. In 2022, she chaired the party’s Platform Committee, which created a widely applauded platform later modeled by the Spokane Democrats.
Jon Paull, First Vice Chair, endorsed Frances’ election as Acting Chair. Jon opted to remain as the Chair of the Elections Committee and lead it through what may be the most important election in recent history. The work of the Elections Committee will be the Walla Walla Democrats' central focus through the General Election on November 5.
Please join the Executive Board in welcoming Frances as our Acting Chair for the next six months.
Let’s also celebrate and support the candidacies of Kari Isaacson for the Washington State Senate, Linda Gunshefski for the Washington State House Position 1, and Craig Woodard for the Washington State House Position 2 of Legislative District 16.
