Senator Lovelett discusses the Recycling Reform Act

Senator Liz Lovelett (D, Anacortes) joined the Walla Walla Central Committee meeting on April 8.

Senator Lovelett, is a co-sponsor of the Recycling Reform Act (SHSB 1150 and SSSB 5284). She discussed this important pending legislation that will, if enacted, establish a program where producers of packaging and paper products are required to:

  • Reduce unnecessary packaging.

    1. Fund statewide recycling services.

    2.  Ensure that materials placed in recycling bins are effectively recycled.

It also provides for:

  • Universal recycling access

    1. Standardized recycling guidelines

    2. Incentives for  packaging

    3. Infrastructure investment and jobs creation
