Carmela Conroy Returns to the Walla Walla Democrats

At December’s Central Committee meeting, Carmela Conroy visited us as the Chair of the Spokane Couthy Democrats. Her party had just won some important contests, including Lisa Brown's election as the Mayor of Spokane and Betsy Wilkerson's election as President of the Spokane City Council. Like Walla Walla, Spokane succeeded in electing progressives to important nonpartisan offices throughout the ballot.

Two months later, Carmela passed her gavel to Naida Spencer and began her campaign as a Democratic candidate for Washington State's Fifth Congressional District. Carmela is a former Spokane County deputy prosecutor and a long-serving United States Foreign Service diplomat. While chair of the Spokane Democrats, she led the local party's 2022-23 resurgence.

This Tuesday, May 14, Carmela presented to a packed house of PCOs, party members, and friends at the Walla Walla County Democratic Central Committee. A video of her presentation is above.
