Second Town Hall

April 17 is another opportunity to share your experiences and opinions with the major changes of the 47th President, DOGE and the captive US House of Representatives, including our representative from the 5th Congressional District, Michael Baumgartner.

The second Town Hall has an additional purpose - building community by helping people in our community affected by Trump and DOGE cuts.  Lists of local organizations through which care and assistance are available will be shared.

We are hoping for a consensus around food availability as all of our food programs report significant shortages and increased need - starting with BMAC, which had to cancel its mobile food program (drive-through basically), all the way to the Senior Center to local food banks which rely on BMAC's major sources and distribution network to operate.

Mark Thompson, retired co-owner of MacDonald Zaring Insurance, will be the moderator.  Panelists serving as guides and resources for their knowledge and expertise are Rodney Outlaw, Jerry Cummins, and Abby Scholar.

The format is similar to that of March 21; doors open at 6:30 pm.  It is at Cavu Cellars, 175 E. Aeronca Avenue, Walla Walla (a blue building).  There is plenty of parking, including on Aeronca Avenue.  It is across from the Walla Walla Airport.  There will be security.

The March 21 town hall was well attended; comments and questions were made by calm and civil people.    We expect the same on the 17th!

Kari Isaacson, Chair, Walla Walla County Democrats
